The Nigeria Police Airwing has honoured newly promoted officers and decorated outstanding personnel with Letters of Commendation in recognition of their courage, professionalism and dedication to protecting the country.
The ceremony took place at the Nigeria Police Airwing Hangar at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Commissioner of Police, Airwing, CP Martin Nwogoh, who presided over the event, described it as a celebration of bravery, sacrifice and exceptional service.
He said the officers being recognised had distinguished themselves during dangerous anti-banditry and counter-insurgency operations, displaying remarkable courage even in life-threatening situations.
According to him, recognising outstanding performance is not only a reward for hard work but also a way of encouraging other officers to strive for excellence.
CP Nwogoh highlighted the vital role of the Police Airwing in Nigeria’s security operations, noting that its responsibilities extend beyond aerial patrols to include intelligence gathering, search and rescue missions, medical evacuations, logistics support, election security and joint operations with other security agencies.
He also praised Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for prioritising officers’ welfare, professional development and merit-based promotions, saying the latest promotions reflect the Force’s commitment to professionalism and operational excellence.
The Airwing Commissioner urged the newly promoted officers to carry their new responsibilities with humility, discipline and integrity, reminding them that higher ranks come with greater accountability.
He also encouraged recipients of the commendation awards to remain committed to serving as role models within the Force.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions, Hon. Laori Kwamoti, applauded the officers for their courage and dedication to national security.
The lawmaker, who represents Numan, Demsa and Lamurde Federal Constituency, said brave and outstanding officers deserve greater recognition because celebrating excellence motivates others to give their best.
He added that rewarding professionalism strengthens morale and helps build a more efficient and disciplined Nigeria Police Force.
The ceremony ended with congratulations to all promoted officers and award recipients, alongside a renewed call for teamwork, commitment and continued service in protecting lives and property across Nigeria.
