Wike Fumes, Says Officials Behind Fake Abuja School-Closure Memo Will Face Fire

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has vowed that those responsible for issuing a memo calling for the closure of schools in Abuja will not be spared. He described the incident as unimaginable, stressing that no director should take such action without approval from higher authorities.

Speaking during an inspection of infrastructure in the Guzape area of the FCT, Minister Wike said the President must be informed before any school is ordered to shut down in the nation’s capital. He also noted that there is currently no security threat that would justify closing schools.

The controversy followed reports that Aishatu Sani Alhassan, Director of School Services at the FCT Secondary Education Board, issued a memo instructing schools to end academic activities early due to security concerns. The FCT Administration quickly dismissed the claims as false and destabilizing.
