Katsina United Football Club has denied reports alleging violence and the death of a player during its recent Nigeria Premier Football League match against Barau FC at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
In a statement released on Sunday, the club’s Media Director, Nasir Gide, described the circulating claims as entirely baseless and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the club’s image. Gide acknowledged that the game was tense due to some controversial officiating decisions but maintained that security agencies ensured order throughout the match.
The club strongly criticised the online platforms that published the misinformation without proper verification, warning that such actions could damage the reputation of the club and football development in the state.
Katsina United also accused Barau FC of amplifying the false narrative and confirmed that it has called on the League Management Company to investigate the incident.
