The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has described the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, as a courageous soldier, a man of faith, and a champion of troops’ welfare.
Speaking at a one-year remembrance church service in honour of Lagbaja, Oluyede highlighted his exemplary life as both a professional soldier and a devout Christian, praising his courage in battle, empathy, and generosity. He added that Lagbaja’s legacy would continue to inspire all who knew him.
The service also featured a sermon by Lt.-Col. Bitrus Nyam, Acting Director of Chaplaincy Services Nigerian Army, who described Lagbaja as a focused, exemplary soldier and a nurturing father whose life was guided by faith.
The gathering concluded with prayers for the late officer’s family and a reaffirmation that his dedication, leadership, and commitment to service will remain a lasting example for the Nigerian Army and the nation.
