President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has announced that Nigeria is on track to become a global leader in fertiliser and petrochemical exports, with his company aiming to become the world’s largest exporter of urea fertiliser by 2026.
Speaking during a press briefing at the Dangote Refinery complex in Lagos to mark the one-year anniversary of the refinery’s gasoline production, Dangote expressed optimism about Nigeria’s rising profile in the global chemical industry.
According to him, ramping up fertiliser exports will significantly enhance Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings and contribute to food security across Africa, where demand for fertiliser continues to exceed local production.
In addition to fertiliser, Dangote revealed progress in the company’s petrochemical segment, particularly in the production of polypropylene, a vital material used in packaging, textiles, and the automotive industry.
