The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that Colonel Abdulsalam Ude was attacked and killed by kidnappers in Abuja.
According to the police, the incident did not happen anywhere within the FCT but occurred in Badna, New Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The clarification followed reports by some media platforms that wrongly linked the attack to Abuja, creating anxiety among residents.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, said preliminary investigations confirmed that the incident happened outside the nation’s capital.
He urged journalists and online platforms to verify information before publishing, warning that inaccurate reports only spread fear and unnecessary panic.
The command also assured residents that security has been strengthened around communities bordering Nasarawa State to prevent criminals from crossing into the FCT.
Police said they remain committed to protecting lives and property and encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.
