Mr P Claims P-Square’s 2021 Reunion Was Staged, Not a Genuine Reconciliation
The ongoing feud between former P-Square members Peter Okoye (Mr P) and his twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) has taken another dramatic turn, with Mr P alleging that their widely celebrated reunion in 2021 was only for public appearances and did not represent a genuine reconciliation.
The singer made the claims in a series of videos posted on Instagram, just hours after apologizing for his controversial comments about Nigerian languages. Mr P also accused Rudeboy of using the backlash to further damage his public image.
Declaring that he was done “being Mr. Nice Guy,” Mr P said he would no longer remain silent about the issues that led to the family’s long-running conflict. He accused his brother of repeatedly making public comments aimed at discrediting him while insisting he had never responded in the same manner.
To support his claims, Mr P shared old interview clips in which Rudeboy said he carried most of the workload during P-Square’s career and claimed he wrote and produced about 99 percent of the group’s songs.
Speaking about the reunion, Mr P revealed that it began after he received a message from his caretaker while returning from Atlanta on November 17, 2021. According to him, the message informed him that Rudeboy had apologized to his wife, Lola, after visiting their home in the early hours of the morning.
Mr P said his wife later confirmed that Rudeboy had arrived at their residence around 4 a.m., apologized emotionally and pleaded for peace. Encouraged by his wife, he decided to visit his brother’s house, where they embraced in a moment that later went viral on social media.
However, Mr P insisted that the reconciliation was only meant to restore their relationship as brothers and not to revive P-Square as a music group.
According to him, discussions about bringing back P-Square started the following day, but he rejected the idea because he believed their music partnership had become the source of their family problems.
He also claimed that their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, later encouraged them to record a reunion video for fans. Although he initially opposed the idea, he eventually agreed. Mr P noted that the reunion announcement introduced them individually as Mr P and Rudeboy, rather than as P-Square, saying this reflected his desire to rebuild family ties instead of reviving the group.
He further alleged that while he had no interest in celebrating a musical reunion, a party was organized at Rudeboy’s residence with a DJ, music and decorations, creating the public impression that P-Square had officially reunited.
The latest revelations come amid renewed tension between the brothers. Earlier, Mr P apologized to Nigerians over remarks he made about Nigerian languages after they sparked criticism online. He later accused Rudeboy of taking advantage of the controversy to tarnish his reputation, prompting him to publicly share his side of the family’s long-running dispute.
