Isaac Fayose Laments Abandonment After Years of Political Sacrifice

Isaac Fayose speaks about political abandonment and the sacrifices he made during his years of political involvement.

Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, has spoken openly about what he describes as years of political sacrifice followed by abandonment by politicians he once supported.

The businessman said he now feels like “a lonely voice in the wilderness”, claiming that he made significant personal and financial sacrifices for political figures who eventually distanced themselves from him when he needed support.

Fayose made the remarks in a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, speaking partly in Pidgin English and Yoruba.

He expressed frustration over his current situation, saying, “Nigeria is a bad country. Very bad. I’m now like an orphan. I’m now like a lonely voice in the wilderness.”

Recalling His Support for His Brother

Fayose reflected on events surrounding his brother’s legal battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2018.

He recalled standing firmly by Ayo Fayose during the former governor’s confrontation with the anti-graft agency and said he personally followed him to the EFCC office.

According to him, he also confronted the then Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, during the period.

Fayose recalled shouting in protest during the confrontation, saying, “Magu, Ole! Magu, Ole!”

He alleged that Magu subsequently questioned his identity and instructed that investigations should be carried out against him.

Ayo Fayose was arraigned by the EFCC in 2018 over allegations relating to fraud during his tenure as Ekiti State governor. He was subsequently granted bail.

‘I Am Now on My Own’

Isaac Fayose said the consequences of his political involvement have continued to affect him, alleging that he remains involved in a legal matter connected to the events.

He also pointed out the irony of his present circumstances, saying that while members of his family have continued to advance politically, he has been left to deal with his own challenges.

He noted that his brother’s child is now set to become a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

According to him, he has been warned in the past to remain quiet about his experiences, but he believes his decision to remain involved in political struggles has ultimately come at a significant personal cost.

He said, “I’m now on my own, facing my problem. They said, ‘We told you, Isaac, keep quiet, keep quiet.’ You didn’t listen.”

Sacrifices Beyond Politics

Fayose also spoke about the personal sacrifices he claims to have made for political causes.

He recalled an incident surrounding the 2026 Ekiti governorship election when, according to him, he interrupted his mourning period after receiving an appeal to help with the political struggle in the state.

He said he had travelled to bury his wife when he received a call from Oluyede, who appealed to him to help in an effort to “take our state back.”

Fayose said the suffering he witnessed among residents influenced his decision to respond to the appeal despite his personal circumstances.

His comments have once again raised questions about the relationship between political loyalty, personal sacrifice and the support politicians offer to those who stand by them during difficult periods.
