Rotarian Rosemary Omonigho Okoghe has been installed as the 14th president of the Rotary Club of Abuja City, popularly known as the City Boys and Girls, succeeding Rotarian Gloria Ikiba.
The installation ceremony which was graced by Rotarians, dignitaries, family members, and friends marked the beginning of a new Rotary year with a renewed commitment to humanitarian service and community development.
In her acceptance speech, President Okoghe outlined the club’s priority for the next one year with a strong focus on improving maternal healthcare, increased enrollment of children in primary and secondary schools, and strengthening primary healthcare support in host communities among others. The projects are designed to improve the quality of life for vulnerable members of society while advancing Rotary’s mission of service above self.
Okoghe called on philanthropists, corporate organizations, development partners, and well-meaning Nigerians to support the club’s humanitarian initiatives, stressing that collective action remains the most effective way to address pressing social challenges.
‘We cannot do it alone, so we invite individuals, organizations, and every member of society to partner with us as we work to improve maternal healthcare, keep more children in school, and strengthen primary healthcare services in our communities,’ she said.
The new president also encouraged prospective members who share Rotary’s ideas of friendship, integrity, and service to join the Rotary Club of Abuja City. The club holds its weekly meeting every Monday at 5:30 p.m. at 3Js Hotel, Utako, Abuja.
A respected real estate investment expert and business development strategist, Okoghe began her Rotary journey in 2010 as a member of the Rotaract Club of the University of Jos, where she served in several leadership positions, including Vice President during the “Peace Through Service” year. Her outstanding commitment earned her the award of Best Graduating Rotaractor in 2014.
She also participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) in 2013, an experience that further strengthened her leadership capacity before transitioning to the Rotary Club of Abuja City.
Okoghe holds a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Jos and has professional certifications in Corporate Communication, Human Resources, Business Management, Customer Service and Leadership.
As she begins her tenure, members expressed confidence in her leadership, describing her as a visionary Rotarian whose passion for humanitarian service will further strengthen the Rotary Club of Abuja City’s impact on communities across the Federal Capital Territory.
