*Biase Council Chairman Signs Bye-Law Establishing Biase Vocational Training Institute (BVTI)*
The Executive Chairman of Biase Local Government Area, Hon. Edodi Eyong Edodi, has officially signed into law the Biase Vocational Training Institute (BVTI) Bye-Law No. 1 of 2025, marking a historic step toward expanding skills development, job creation, and economic empowerment within the LGA.
The bye-law, recently passed by the Biase Legislative Council, establishes the Biase Vocational Training Institute as a corporate body mandated to provide accessible, functional, and market-oriented vocational education to youths and adults across Biase and its neighboring communities.
Speaking during the signing, Chairman Edodi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, describing the establishment of BVTI as a cornerstone of the “People First” and “Liberation Agenda,” aimed at building human capacity, reducing unemployment, and empowering the next generation with practical, income-generating skills.
Key Objectives of BVTI Include:
– Delivering vocational and technical skills training across multiple trades.
– Providing certification and entrepreneurial development programs.
– Empowering residents to create jobs and become self-reliant.
– Promoting innovation, technical excellence, and sustainable livelihoods.
– Collaborating with local, national, and international partners for funding and program enhancement.
The bye-law further establishes a Governing Board to oversee policy formulation, budgeting, academic standards, and staff recruitment. A Rector will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the institute, ensuring smooth administration and execution of programs.
Initial Vocational Programs to Be Offered Include:
ICT and Digital Skills, Agriculture and Agribusiness, Fashion and Textile Design, Carpentry and Furniture Making, Welding and Metal Fabrication, Solar and Renewable Energy, Cosmetology, Auto Mechanics, Catering and Hospitality, and General Entrepreneurship.

The establishment of BVTI is expected to transform Biase into a major center for technical education and skill acquisition in Cross River State.
