President Bola Tinubu has praised the Super Eagles for their efforts in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, despite their recent playoff loss to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a statement issued by his spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu acknowledged the disappointment of failing to qualify for the World Cup for the second consecutive tournament but commended the team for their determination, particularly after winning their first playoff match.
He urged football administrators, players, and stakeholders to review strategies and address weaknesses, emphasizing that the focus should now shift to the African Cup of Nations AFCON scheduled for January to February 2026 in Morocco.
