FCT Police Debunks Alleged Assassination Attempt on Lt. Ahmed Yerima

The Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command has dismissed a viral social media report claiming that there was an attempted assassination on Lt. Ahmed Yerima, describing the allegation as false, misleading, and capable of causing public panic.

In a statement issued to the press, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the Command had no record of any such incident within the territory.

The rumoured assassination attempt surfaced days after Yerima was involved in a widely publicised confrontation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, over a disputed land site in the Gaduwa District, an encounter that quickly went viral and sparked nationwide debate.

The false report claimed Yerima was trailed by unidentified men dressed in black and riding in two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates, allegedly following him from a Filling Station along the Kubwa Expressway to Gado.

SP Adeh urged residents to ignore the unverified report, warning that the spread of false information threatens public peace and safety. She encouraged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police division.
