Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere expressed disappointment following Nigeria’s elimination from the ongoing 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Nigerian girls suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Italy in the round of 16 clash on Tuesday night, ending their campaign earlier than expected.
Speaking to FIFA.com after the match, Olowookere described the result as painful, saying his team had hoped to make a deeper run in the competition.
The coach noted that the team managed to hold Italy for 44 minutes before conceding the opening goal, which he said changed the momentum of the game.
Despite the defeat, Olowookere believes the experience gained at the tournament will be valuable for the young players as they continue their football development.
