THE EDIT by Afropolitan Edit Creates More Room During Lagos Fashion Week

The inaugural curated retail experience brought together 10 African fashion brands for two days of shopping, discovery and engagement beyond the runway.

Afropolitan Edit has concluded the inaugural edition of THE EDIT, a curated retail experience that brought together 10 African fashion brands for two days of shopping and discovery during Lagos Fashion Week.

Held on October 30 and 31 at Lala’s Lagos, Victoria Island, THE EDIT was created around a simple idea: while Fashion Week brings significant attention to African fashion, not every designer has the opportunity to participate in the official runway schedule. There should be other ways for these brands to benefit from the energy and attention surrounding the season.

With the theme “A little more room for African fashion,” THE EDIT provided a shared retail space where visitors could encounter participating brands, explore their collections, meet the people behind the work and shop directly.

Rather than a conventional market or runway presentation, the experience was designed as a considered retail environment, bringing different brand identities and design perspectives together under one roof. It offered shoppers an opportunity to engage with African fashion beyond the runway, while giving participating designers another platform for customer discovery and direct sales.

The inaugural edition reflects Afropolitan Edit’s broader commitment to supporting the development of African fashion businesses through strategic visibility, industry engagement and commercial opportunities.

For Afropolitan Edit, the ambition extends beyond creating moments of visibility. It is about building opportunities that allow attention to translate into meaningful connections between designers, customers and the wider fashion industry.

As the organisation continues to develop its work at the intersection of fashion, media and business development, THE EDIT marks an important first step in exploring how curated retail experiences can contribute to a more connected and commercially supportive African fashion ecosystem.

Afropolitan Edit is a fashion business development and media platform working at the intersection of African fashion, visibility and commercial opportunity. Through strategic brand development, media, industry engagement and curated experiences, it works to support African fashion businesses in building more sustainable and commercially viable brands.
