The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has called on voters in Ekiti State to support President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general election.
Yilwatda made the appeal at the party’s presidential campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, where he joined Vice-President Kashim Shettima, members of the party’s National Working Committee, governors and other APC leaders to present the party’s candidates to voters.
The APC chairman said Tinubu deserved another term, pointing to the administration’s economic reforms and development policies as reasons for his appeal to voters.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Abimbola Tooki, and made available to journalists in Abuja, Yilwatda expressed delight at the large turnout and reception the party received during the rally.
He described the crowd as a demonstration of support for the APC and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The rally also provided an opportunity for the party to introduce its candidates for the presidency, National Assembly and Ekiti State House of Assembly elections.
Yilwatda highlights Tinubu’s economic reforms
The APC chairman described Tinubu as both a performer and a reformer, saying his administration had introduced far-reaching policies aimed at repositioning the economy, strengthening public institutions and creating opportunities for Nigerians.
He particularly highlighted the government’s tax reforms, arguing that the new framework was designed to protect low-income earners and small businesses from excessive tax burdens.
According to him, the reforms would allow individuals and businesses to retain more of their earnings for personal and business development.
Yilwatda also pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as an important intervention in helping students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds access higher education.
He noted that eligible beneficiaries also receive a monthly upkeep allowance of ₦20,000 to support their living expenses while studying.
On infrastructure, the APC chairman highlighted road projects in Ekiti State, including major connections between Ado-Ekiti and Akure, as examples of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving transportation and economic activities.
He maintained that the administration’s development agenda went beyond policy announcements, insisting that its interventions were already making a difference in the lives of Nigerians.
APC seeks support across all elective positions
Presenting Tinubu as the party’s candidate for another presidential term, Yilwatda urged Ekiti voters to support the APC across all elective positions.
He argued that electing APC candidates into the National Assembly and the state legislature would help the party work more effectively with the President and advance its policies.
The party chairman also reaffirmed the APC’s position as a major political force with a strong national structure and presence across the country.
He expressed confidence in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections and called on members, supporters and stakeholders in Ekiti to remain united and committed to its campaign.
Yilwatda said the party was determined to secure victory for its candidates and continue pursuing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
