The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is sending a special Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to help Nigerians deal with pending, new and renewal passport applications.
The exercise, directed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 10, 2026.
The NIS said the intervention was designed to make passport services easier and more accessible for Nigerians living in the UK.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Sunday, the service said Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, had been directed to deploy the team from the NIS headquarters.
The team will work with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK to process pending applications, enrol new applicants and handle passport renewals.
Rather than requiring applicants to travel to one central location, the team will visit selected cities across the UK for enrolment and processing.
The exercise is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, first-time applicants and those whose passports have less than one year before expiry and need to be renewed.
Applicants attending the exercise are expected to bring their completed application forms and proof of payment.
Cities and Dates
The NIS said details of the cities, dates, venues and enrolment times would be announced separately.
It warned applicants not to travel to any location until the official schedule has been released.
Nigerians in the UK have also been advised to follow the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates.
The immigration service said its normal digital passport application channels would remain open throughout the intervention.
The Contactless Passport Application System will also continue to operate, while applicants will still have access to the passport home-delivery service.
The NIS said the UK intervention was part of wider efforts to make passport services faster and easier for Nigerians living abroad.
