The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has claimed that more than 10,000 jobs have vanished in Rivers State since emergency rule was declared six months ago.
Speaking on Arise Television, INC President Professor Benjamin Okaba described the situation as catastrophic.
“Six months of emergency rule in Rivers, from March 18 to now, has wiped out thousands of jobs across multiple sectors,” he said.
Okaba argued that suspending the governor, his deputy and the legislature effectively ushered in dictatorship, leaving governance in the hands of a sole administrator.
It will be recalled that in March this year, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, removing Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy and lawmakers, citing instability.
