Civil Servants Beg FG: “Pay Our Three-Month ₦35,000 Wage Award — We’re Struggling to Survive”

Federal civil servants have urged the Federal Government to promptly settle the outstanding three months of the N35,000 wage award, saying the delay is worsening their financial hardship amid rising living costs.

The wage award, negotiated with labour unions in 2023, was introduced as a temporary relief measure during the government’s economic reforms. Although five months were approved, payment has been staggered, and only two months of the remaining arrears have been settled so far.

Civil servants stressed that completing the payments is essential to easing economic pressure on workers, maintaining morale, and upholding trust in the government’s labour commitments. They called on authorities to act swiftly to avoid unrest among public sector workers.
