China Records Sharp Rise in Battery Exports to Nigeria and Global Markets

China’s exports of batteries and battery energy storage systems to Nigeria and other countries have reached record levels in 2025, rising 24% in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2024.

According to data from energy think tank Ember, batteries remain China’s most profitable clean energy technology export since mid-2022. The sector has generated about $60 billion so far in 2025, up from just under $48 billion during the same period last year. Battery exports now account for 37% of China’s clean energy export revenue, surpassing earnings from electric vehicles, grid equipment, renewable energy infrastructure, and cooling systems.

China maintains a dominant position in global battery manufacturing, supported by soaring global demand for batteries used in electric vehicles and power networks. According to a report, a total of 23 countries have purchased $500 million or more in China-made batteries in 2025, highlighting the vast reach and profitability of the sector.
