FG Moves to Avert ASUU Strike: Yayale Ahmed Committee Holds Crucial Meetings Today and Tomorrow

The Federal Government, through the Yayale Ahmed Renegotiation Committee, has scheduled meetings for today and tomorrow,  in a bid to avert a looming strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU.

ASUU’s National Executive Council NEC is expected to meet shortly after the government talks to decide whether to embark on a strike.

ASUU had earlier suspended a two-week warning strike on October 22, giving the government a one-month window to meet its demands, which include: Review of the 2009 ASUU–Federal Government agreement, Payment of outstanding salaries and earned allowances, and Disbursement of the university revitalization fund. The outcome of the upcoming meetings will determine whether ASUU resumes industrial action without prior notice.
