The Federal Government is condemning the deadly attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, where the vice-principal was killed and 25 students were abducted. Officials say the incident has drawn urgent attention at the highest levels of government as families and communities grapple with the impact of the assault.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that security and intelligence agencies have been directed to track down the attackers, rescue the students, and ensure the criminals face justice. He said the federal government stands in solidarity with the affected families and remains committed to securing the safe return of the schoolgirls, stressing that the protection of children is a core obligation of the state.
Idris added that efforts to bolster internal security are being intensified, including improvements to military, police, and intelligence operations. The government is also strengthening regional cooperation through ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force to curb cross-border criminal activities and prevent similar attacks.
