Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has appointed 1,180 political assistants across the 236 wards in the state as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots participation in governance and enhance citizen engagement.
Each ward will have five newly appointed assistants tasked with serving as a bridge between the state government and local communities. The initiative aligns with the administration’s focus on inclusive governance and delivering democratic dividends to all parts of the state.
According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the appointments reflect Governor Abiodun’s commitment to fulfilling his electoral promises and ensuring that governance reaches the grassroots. He added that the political aides are expected to play a vital role in supporting the implementation of the government’s development agenda across the wards, local councils, and the state at large.
The governor described the move as a strategic effort to deepen democracy and encourage meaningful participation in decision-making at all levels. The state government urged the appointees to be proactive and impactful in their roles, contributing significantly to the growth and development of their respective communities.
