Tinubu Orders Tight Security Across Kwara Forests After Surge in Kidnappings and Terror Attacks

President Bola Tinubu has directed a comprehensive security barrier on forests in Kwara State following a series of kidnappings and terrorist activities. The order was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, via X.

The directive instructs the Nigerian Air Force to expand air surveillance over the deepest parts of the forests, maintaining 24-hour monitoring and coordinating with ground forces. The security measures also extend to Kebbi and Niger States, where rescue operations are ongoing.

The order follows recent attacks, including the abduction of 38 churchgoers in Eruku and the kidnapping of at least 10 residents in Isapa, a community in Ekiti Local Government Area. The Isapa incident saw 20–30 armed bandits raid homes, abducting women, children, and residents, marking the third major assault on Ekiti communities in under a month. Authorities have intensified operations to curb banditry and secure vulnerable communities in the region.
