The National Body of the Kanam Development Association (KADA) is deeply alarmed and gravely concerned about the escalating insecurity in Garga communities, Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State. Yesterday, 23rd November 2025, bandits attacked Garga town for the third time now, though repelled by the community’s bravery, they managed to rustle cattle from Dadinkowa axis. Additionally, five motorcycles were seized around Kyaram by the bandits some three days, and the Shuwaka and Gwammadaji communities are under relentless siege.
These incessant attacks have forced residents to flee, threatening the stability of the entire Garga Area. If Shuwaka and Gwammadji communities fall, the security of the broader Kanam community will be gravely compromised. KADA condemns these brutal assaults in the strongest terms and sympathizes with the affected communities.
KADA vehemently condemns the banditry and urges the Plateau State Government and Federal authorities to treat this as an emergency. We demand immediate deployment of adequate security reinforcements to protect Garga and surrounding communities.
We commend the resilience of Garga communities and urge strengthened local vigilance groups, working with security agencies. KADA pledges logistical and advocacy support where possible. We encourage our communities to stand up and defend themselves.
KADA stands in solidarity with Garga communities and all Kanam people facing insecurity. We urge calm but stress that the situation demands immediate collective action.
We appeal to all Kanam people to unite in prayer for peace. “Only in Allah do we put our trust.
The Press Statement was signed by the groups Secretary ND Shehu Kanam, Kanam Development Association (KADA) While Barr. Garba Gambo Aliyu serve as the Chairman of the Association.
