Kwara Community in Shock as Suspected Bandit Attack in Eruku Leaves Two Dead

Two people have been killed following an attack by suspected bandits in Eruku, a border community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer Kwara State, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the assault occurred on Tuesday evening when gunmen invaded the outskirts of the town and attacked a parish of the Christ Apostolic Church CAC,  Oke Isegun.

The statement says officers responded quickly, forcing the attackers to flee. A search of the area later revealed the body of Aderemi inside the church and another victim,  Tunde Asaba Ajayi, in the nearby bush. Also a vigilante member, Segun Alaja, sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to ECWA Hospital, Eruku.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the incident and called for an immediate strengthening of security in the area. 

The governor also sympathized with families of the victims and the CAC community, assuring that the government will continue to support security agencies in protecting lives and property.
