Armed bandits suspected to be members of the Lakurawa group have reportedly launched a deadly attack on a Nigeria Customs Service camp in Maje, a community in the Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to a report, the attackers invaded the facility in large numbers, firing indiscriminately at officers on duty. One Customs personnel was reportedly killed on the spot, while the assailants later set the camp ablaze before escaping into the bush.
Report says, the same group of armed bandits attacked Bagudo Local Government Area last week, during which they abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo. The lawmaker was released Saturday night after spending one week in captivity.
Meanwhile the Kebbi State Government has organised an interfaith prayer session to seek divine intervention over the rising security challenges confronting the state and the nation at large. Speaking at the event held in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris noted that the state had enjoyed relative peace compared to many parts of the country but stressed the need for sustained prayers to preserve unity and harmony.
The Governor commended religious leaders, clerics, and participants for honouring the invitation and taking part actively in the prayers. He urged them to continue praying for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Kebbi State even after the event.
