Denmark Suspends Civilian Drone Flights Ahead Of EU Summit

Denmark has suspended all civilian drone flights this week as part of heightened security measures ahead of a European Union summit in Copenhagen. Authorities say the move will help reduce potential risks as the country deals with recent sightings of unidentified drones near sensitive sites, including military facilities.

The decision comes amid growing concern across Europe, with defence ministers from 10 EU countries agreeing to set up a joint “drone wall” to counter the threat. NATO has also stepped up surveillance in the Baltic region following a series of similar incidents in neighbouring states.

The Danish government has placed police forces on increased alert throughout the summit, with the temporary drone ban in place until October 3. Offenders face penalties ranging from heavy fines to up to two years in prison. Sweden has pledged to assist Denmark with military anti-drone technology, including the deployment of advanced radar systems.
