Marcus Rashford marked a stunning return to English soil with a brilliant brace as Barcelona defeated Newcastle United 2-1 at St. James’ Park in their UEFA Champions League group stage opener on Thursday.
On loan from Manchester United, the 27-year-old scored twice in nine second-half minutes to give Barca a vital away win and net his first Champions League goals since 2021.
The match was Rashford’s first against an English club since his temporary switch to Spain in July and signalled a potential career resurgence after a period of poor form and limited opportunities at Manchester United.
