Burial Programme Released for Late IGP Solomon Arase

The Nigeria Police Force has released full burial arrangements for its former Inspector-General, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, who died on 31 August 2025 at the age of 69.

According to Force PRO CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, events begin on 24 September in Abuja with a Day of Tributes at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, Jabi. This will be followed on 26 September by a Requiem Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama.

On 27 September, there will be a lying-in-state at his Abuja home before his remains are moved to Benin City, Edo State. A Funeral Mass will hold on 3 October at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Benin, followed by his interment at his private residence.

Arase, who earned a PhD in Law and held the national honour of CFR, served as Inspector-General from April 2015 to June 2016. He died after a brief illness at Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja.
