Nine ex-members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have pledged loyalty and dedication to Abia State after Governor Alex Otti handed them automatic employment in the civil service.
The governor made the surprise announcement on Tuesday, directing the Head of Service, Mr Benson Ojeikere, to offer them immediate appointment without interview. “They have already passed the interviews,” Otti said, to loud applause.
Responding on behalf of the group, Nwogu Chinomso from Obingwa Local Government expressed gratitude: “Your Excellency, we sincerely thank you for this recognition and encouragement. You are a true leader, and we pray that God blesses you richly.”
The Abia NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Gladys Adama, revealed that eight of the nine had served outside the South East and excelled at their places of primary assignment, earning commendations that impressed the governor.
