The Kaduna State Government has secured a $120 million investment deal with African Industries Group, headquartered in Bucharest, Romania, to boost irrigation and launch a state-of-the-art greenhouse farming initiative in Gurara. Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who announced the development during a working visit to Romania, described the agreement as a milestone in the state’s agricultural transformation agenda.
According to Governor Sani, the initiative will expand access to modern irrigation systems, Launch advanced greenhouse farming operations, Strengthen Kaduna’s Special Agro-Processing Zone, Leverage the Africa Quality Assurance Centre and Equip local farmers to compete in the global agro-economy.
He said the project is expected to enhance food security, drive rural development, and attract foreign investment, all while creating sustainable job opportunities particularly for youths.
Governor Sani praised Romania’s agricultural expertise, fertile terrain, and use of modern technology, noting that the collaboration would open up access to European markets and bolster Kaduna’s presence in international trade.
