Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that new signee Alexander Isak will be part of the squad for their Champions League opener against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Sweden international joined Liverpool on deadline day in a £125 million British record from Newcastle United but wasn’t involved in Sunday’s late Premier League win over Burnley.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Slot revealed that Isak is in contention to make his debut at Anfield.
The 25-year-old striker has impressed in training and is expected to add firepower to Liverpool’s attack as they begin their European campaign against Diego Simeone’s side.
Liverpool will be aiming for a strong start in the competition as they return to the Champions League under Slot’s leadership.
