The West African Examinations Council WAEC has announced an extension of the registration deadline for the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination CB-WASSCE for private candidates.
According to an official update shared via WAEC’s X handle, the new deadline for registration is now Friday, September 19, 2025, shifting from the previously scheduled closing date. The Council urged all prospective candidates who are yet to register to take advantage of the additional time provided.
While the extension has been widely welcomed by candidates, concerns persist among some members of the public regarding the shift from the traditional paper-based examination format to the computer-based system.
WAEC introduced the CB-WASSCE format as part of efforts to modernize the examination process, reduce malpractice, and align with global best practices in assessment.
