Resident Doctors Begin Five-Day Warning Strike

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors NARD has launched a five-day warning strike, citing the Federal Government’s continued failure to address key issues including unpaid allowances, salary backlogs, and other pressing welfare matters.

The announcement was made in an official circular titled “Declaration of Strike Action”, signed by the association’s Secretary-General, Dr. Oluwasola Odunbaku.

This action follows the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum originally issued by NARD in July 2025, which was later extended by an additional 10 days. Despite these extensions, the government did not meet the doctors’ demands, prompting the strike after a final 24-hour notice expired on Thursday.

NARD emphasized that while this strike is scheduled to last just five days, it serves as a stern warning. The group has not ruled out further action if the government continues to delay in resolving their grievances.
