Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the bold and ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a testament to strong political will aimed at fixing the country’s long-standing structural economic weaknesses.
Speaking at the 66th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Economic Society NES in Abuja, Shettima emphasized that although the reforms are painful, they are necessary to ensure long-term recovery and sustainable growth.
He urged African nations to embrace the knowledge economy to drive structural transformation, address unemployment, and reverse human capital challenges. The Vice President highlighted the growing global trend where digital opportunities transcend geographical boundaries.
He argued that economic challenges stemming from geopolitical conflicts, supply chain disruptions, and AI advancements must be viewed as opportunities for growth and innovation, not threats.
