Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has once again dared the Nigerian government, insisting he will not be silenced despite fresh moves against him.
In a statement released on his X handle on Sunday, Sowore alleged that the Department of State Services (DSS) wrote to the management of X, demanding that his account be deactivated within 24 hours.
This comes after pro-government demonstrators staged protests at the Federal High Court and the Ministry of Justice, calling for his arrest. Sowore described the move as “unconstitutional” and “a desecration of national dignity.”
The activist accused both the DSS and the police of hounding him for years through arrests, passport seizures, fabricated charges, and even physical assaults by armed officers. He said the government had gone as far as falsely accusing him of terrorism financing.
According to him, attempts to force social media platforms into silencing him amount to “exporting national disgrace to the US.” But he insists that such tactics will not stop his activism against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“The struggle against these criminals continues ceaselessly with or without a Twitter account, with or without Facebook, and whether I am in jail or outside of it. The struggle continues,” he boldly declared.
