NLC Calls For Review Of National Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and federal government workers have called on the Federal Government to urgently review the national minimum wage, arguing that the current ₦70,000 wage is no longer sufficient to meet basic living needs amidst escalating economic hardship.

Their demand comes in response to recent developments in several states across the country, where governments have increased minimum wages above the ₦70,000 benchmark in recognition of soaring inflation and rising living costs.

Speaking with the Newsmen, union leaders and public servants expressed concern over the rapidly rising costs of food, transportation, rent, healthcare, and other essential services, insisting that the current wage no longer reflects economic realities.
