Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has condemned the weekend Boko Haram attacks on communities in Borno State that claimed several lives and left many displaced. The incidents occurred in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area, and Mussa in Askira/Uba, where both farmers and youths were targeted.
Ndume expressed sorrow over the repeated targeting of innocent citizens who are struggling to live peacefully and earn their livelihood. He praised the efforts of troops under Operation Hadin Kai but stressed the need for stronger security measures in rural areas vulnerable to attacks.
The senator urged the federal and state governments to intensify deployments of personnel, modern weapons, and air support to safeguard farming communities. He also called on residents to remain vigilant and work closely with security agencies in order to withstand the insurgency.
Reports indicate that five farmers were killed on their farmlands in Ngoshe on Saturday morning, while later that night, armed insurgents stormed the community, killing three youths and burning homes and shops.
