Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has rattled the industry with a fiery outburst at her London concert, dismissing the genre’s so-called “Big Three” — Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido.
“I don’t want to say a lot of things because I’ll be trending tomorrow. F**k the Top 3!” Savage roared mid-performance, to roars from the crowd.
Though widely hailed as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” Savage has long been excluded from male-dominated lists of the genre’s elite. Her remarks have now reignited conversations around misogyny and representation in Afrobeats.
In a softer moment, Savage brought her son, Jamil, on stage for the first time—despite previously vowing she wouldn’t let him pursue a music career.
Love her or hate her, Tiwa has once again made herself the conversation.
