Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has defended his decision not to start new signing Eberechi Eze in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
Eze, signed from Crystal Palace, only came on in the 70th minute for Gabriel Martinelli, but failed to turn the tide after Dominik Szoboszlai’s winner.
“He’s been here just four or five days,” Arteta said afterwards. “He had good exposure today. I fully believe in the players who started.”
Eze will now hope for his full debut when Arsenal face Nottingham Forest after the international break.
