The Defence Headquarters has announced that troops conducting operations across the country rescued 117 hostages and arrested 150 suspects, including terrorists, oil thieves, and criminal collaborators, within the last week.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the operations were part of renewed strategies aimed at enhancing security nationwide.
In the North East, 11 terrorist collaborators were arrested and five hostages freed. Troops in the North West rescued 76 hostages and arrested 35 suspects during clearance operations.
In the South East, nine suspected members of IPOB/ESN were arrested across Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Anambra States.
In the South South, 48 suspects were apprehended, including 33 oil thieves. Troops destroyed 12 illegal refining sites and seized stolen crude and refined products valued at ₦443 million.
The Defence Headquarters said operations will continue to ensure safety for citizens and allow farmers to work freely across different regions.
