Governor Mbah Boasts Of 80% Reduction In Crime In Enugu State

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has stated that his administration has achieved an 80 percent reduction in violent crime through major investments in security. He made the disclosure while presenting his government’s scorecard at the 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Annual Conference in Enugu on Monday.

The governor explained that the progress was made possible through a tech-driven, intelligence-led security system anchored on a Command and Control Centre. The initiative includes round-the-clock AI surveillance, integrated response units, and community partnerships across neighbourhoods.

Mbah said the improved security has provided stability for growth in investment, job creation, and social development. He noted that none of his administration’s visions and targets would have been possible without a safe environment.

Speaking on leadership and transformation, the governor said his long-term vision is to expand Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, eradicate poverty, and make the state Nigeria’s preferred destination for business, tourism, and living. He described the plan as a bold and disruptive strategy to transform Enugu within eight years.
