Equities trading on the Nigerian Exchange closed on a positive note today, gaining 0.23 percent. The rise was driven by strong interest in stocks like Beta Glass, Berger Paints, Cadbury and NCR.
Market analysts say investors remain cautious but are gradually positioning for long-term opportunities. The market’s year-to-date return has now climbed to 37.73 percent, with gains of 0.54 percent so far this week and 1.36 percent for the month.
Beta Glass topped the gainers’ chart after its share price jumped by more than 8 percent, while Cadbury rose by over 8 percent as well. Berger Paints gained 9 percent, and NCR advanced by 10 percent to close among the day’s biggest winners.
At the close of trading, the All-Share Index stood at 141,761 points, with the market capitalisation rising to 89.7 trillion naira. Over 605 million shares valued at 12.9 billion naira were traded in nearly 29,000 deals, with FCMB and Veritas Kapital among the most active stocks.
