United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, warning that Israel’s expanding military operations in Gaza City risk triggering large-scale civilian deaths and destruction.
Speaking in Japan during the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, Guterres urged both an end to hostilities and the unconditional release of all hostages.
Guterres also warned that the move would divide the territory and further undermine the possibility of a two-state solution.
