2027 Elections: Avoid Muslim-Muslim Ticket, APC Chieftain Tells Tinubu

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dominic Alancha, has urged President Bola Tinubu to steer clear of a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2027 general elections.

Alancha, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, said the controversial pairing was a betrayal of the delicate balance agreed by Nigeria’s founding fathers to avoid deep national division.

“We are not attacking Vice President Shettima personally. The problem is the Muslim-Muslim ticket itself. In 2023, so many Christians felt excluded and disenfranchised because of that decision. When 2027 comes, the President must not repeat the same mistake,” he said.

Alancha maintained that such a move risks further polarising an already divided country.
