The long arm of the law has caught up with a notorious “marching ground” enforcer in Benue State.
The state taskforce on Illegal Levies and Criminality arrested David Yaikyo, who allegedly demanded ₦300,000 from a construction site as his “marching ground fee.”
Yaikyo, who lives near Makurdi International Market, was picked up after operatives stormed the area following a distress call.
During questioning, he reportedly confessed and has since been handed over to police for prosecution.
Governor Hyacinth Alia’s aide, Hon. Gbenda Terver, condemned the act, warning youths to steer clear of illegal levies or face the law. He urged residents to keep supporting the crackdown by reporting cases via the taskforce hotline: 07063894788.
