Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oba Maduabuchi, has dismissed claims by businessman Chief Jim Okolo suggesting an ongoing legal dispute, stressing that no civil matter is pending.
This comes after the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed Okolo’s fundamental rights enforcement suit, effectively clearing the way for his prosecution on criminal allegations ranging from intimidation to attempted extortion.
In a ruling by Justice G.K. Olotu (Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/197/2021), the court held that Okolo’s arrest, investigation, and prosecution by the Attorney General of the Federation were legal and constitutionally valid.
Speaking on THISDAY Live’s Sunday Talk Show with Dr Reuben Abati, Maduabuchi SAN clarified that the judgment was properly delivered after both counsels were duly informed. He insisted that there is “no pending case,” only criminal proceedings that will take their full legal course.
