Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has taken a swipe at Labour Party (LP) leader Peter Obi after by-election results showed sweeping victories for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State.
Speaking on Sunday at Nanka, during celebrations for APGA’s victory, Soludo said the polls proved that both Labour Party and African Democratic Congress (ADC) were “dead and non-existent” in the state.
“ADC does not exist in Anambra. Labour Party is dead. We showed it yesterday,” Soludo declared, insisting that Obi’s influence could not save ADC candidates he supported.
According to Soludo, the opposition coalition had planned to use the polls to test its strength ahead of 2027, but the people spoke with “overwhelming clarity” by delivering more than 75 percent of the votes to APGA.
“APGA is not just a party—it is a movement,” he added.
The results mark another heated chapter in the rivalry between Soludo and Obi, who both hail from Anambra but now stand on opposite sides of Nigeria’s shifting political map.
