Kebbi State Police Command says two kidnap victims have been rescued after a fierce gun battle between security forces and bandits in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson CSP Nafi’u Abubakar said the rescue took place on Friday near Dankade village, when operatives, vigilantes, and hunters launched a joint offensive against the kidnappers.
The victims were identified as 26-year-old Tukur Bello of Kembawa village, Kebbi, and 25-year-old Isyaka Abubakar of Budun village, Zamfara. They were abducted on 9 August while herding cattle in Gairi forest, Zamfara.
After hours of heavy exchange of gunfire, the kidnappers fled, leaving the victims behind. Police confirmed both men were unhurt, taken for medical checks, and reunited with their families.
The operation was described as a morale booster for communities terrorised by armed gangs across the northwest.
