Voters in Ibadan North Federal Constituency head to the polls today to fill the vacant House of Representatives seat left by the death of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi of the APC.
INEC confirmed that five parties will slug it out after monitoring primaries of seven. The final contenders are Dexter Femi Akin-Alamu (ADC), Adewale Haastrup Olatunji (APC), Olabisi Olajumoke Odususi (APGA), Fola Sunday Oyekunle (PDP), and Hammed Badmus (ZLP).
The REC for Oyo State, Dr Adeniran Rahmon Tella, revealed that 217,980 PVCs have been collected out of 272,196 registered voters, with 512 polling units set for voting. Over 2,000 officials will be deployed, alongside 526 BVAS machines.
On Wednesday, the five candidates signed a peace accord at INEC’s office, pledging to shun violence and respect the electoral process.
To ensure security, police and other agencies under ICCES have announced a movement restriction from midnight.
INEC also disclosed that 18 media organisations have been accredited to cover the poll, with officials promising a free, fair, and transparent exercise.
